Acts Kingdom

Expect Deliverance

James 5:11 Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.
In this verse, and the surrounding passage (James 5:7–11), the apostle addresses the age-old question of why the righteous suffer. James reminds us that there are times of trial in which we can do little except be patient and determine not to give up (Romans 8:18–25).

This does not mean we do not resist the destructive ploys of Satan. However, ultimately God is sovereign and sometimes chooses not to relieve our suffering for purposes we may or may not ever know.

Read Psalm 118:3; 119:90; 1 Corinthians 13:4–7; 1 John 4:18.
