We are people of the Covenant. This covenant is characterized by both blood and book. The blood of Jesus Christ and the Word of the living God. Both are cleansing agents. Both are weapons to be wielded in our spiritual conflict with darkness. Both are connected in at three other ways.
1. The scrolls and the mercy seat were sprinkled with the blood. Hebrews 9:19,21
2. Blood flowed from Jesus' side. Jesus is God's Word made flesh. John 1:14; 19:34
3. Our Lord's communion table is prepared with both wine and bread. Matthew 4:4; 26:26-28; John 6:32-58; 1 Corinthians 11:24-25.
God who makes covenants- blood sealed covenants- for purpose of establishing a right relationship with us. Amen
