Jesus was in the presence of many believers when He told them to wait in Jerusalem until they received Holy Spirit Baptism. Luke 24:49
Luke is also the writer of the book of Acts is telling the account of the last words of Jesus before He was taken up.
There is a teaching that "The Great Commission" is the last words of Jesus. Although Jesus most definitely said those words sometime during the 40 days with His disciples, the last words of Jesus are recorded also in
Acts 1:4-9
The Great Commission tells us of course to "got this is in fact our job, the last words of Jesus He says "wait".
Our charge is to "go into all nations baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. " But the empowerment (power) to do that job comes from the Holy Spirit (Helper) or the Promise of the Father.
